The Screwhead tool has a range of collets, usually brass to avoid damaging the screw threads. The screw in mounted in the collet and polished by rotating it against one of the laps charged with polishing compound. This model is operated by hand.

To polish the point, the screw is mounted in the lantern chuck with the point protruding.
